My topic for my paper has remained the same for the most part. I am leaning more towards the comparison of the music lyrics instead of focusing mainly on the artists. The artists are a main part of my paper; however, one of the major points is that the message in the music is the same. I am going to talk more about how the message in the songs are the same rather than saying the music is the same. The music itself is different; however, the lyrics still bring the same message. My search has broadened slightly. My original thought was to compare two artist. This is still my intentions, but I plan to talk more about the music lyrics instead of focusing all the attention on the artists.

My topic for my research project is the comparison between James Taylor and Lil' Wayne's music styles. Throughout the years music has indeed stayed the same. In the 70's, when James Taylor was popular, music revolved around sex and drugs. In today's world music still revolves around the same types of things. Even though the music from these different eras are extremely alike, there are still people from older generations that do not agree with the music that is popular today.
In the book Mirror on America, I found a few essays that insinuated the same types of ideas. In the essay "Same Old Song" by Lorraine Ali, she explains how in every generation music has been upsetting to the elders in that generation. This is not a new development. This has been going on for many decades and will continue. The music that I listen to today is exactly what my mom listened to when she was my age; however, my mother does not like the fact that I listen to music with vulgarity. The people of older generations do not seem to understand that when they were young they were attracted to the songs that focused mainly on sex and violence also. In the essay "Rock of Ages," written by Richard Lacayo, he compares the types of music that teenagers listen to versus what their parents listen to. I believe that my research topic is important for many reasons. In today's society there are limited things that connect the new generations with the old. One thing that all generations can relate to is music. Music has not changed. The only thing that has changed over the years is the artists that sing those particular songs that one loves. It is very important for the different generations to have one thing that can bond them together. I want to make a point that all music has its roots and most songs are connected in some way.
I plan to research my project by comparing certain songs from both artists, James Taylor and Lil' Wayne. I want to compare different songs that they have recorded and try to make a connection between their music. These two artists are not similar, so therefore I think that it will be very interesting to find things to relate them to each other.
I am interested in this subject because I love music. My mother and I are both music fans. I chose James Taylor because my mother is a huge fan; however, my mother does not like to listen to music today that talks about the same things James Taylor did. I want to show that there is a connections between the music of yesterday and the music of today.

I chose to research a topic related to music. In the book "Mirror on America," I found many interesting essays written on how music has affected many people in different ways. One research idea that I have considered is the effect that sex and violence have on attracting people to music; however are there other factors that attract people and make certain music popular and successful. Another topic that I found interesting is what are the major differences and comparisons on the music of yesterday and the music that is popular now. Another research topic would be are people of different generations attracted to the same types of music. In the world today many people are now buying iPods and downloading music from their computers. How is this changing the music industry. These are just a few topics that I was interested in dealing with the influences of music.

On the first paper written on Foreign Athletes, I gave this paper a C. In this paper I found a lot of spelling errors that were simply ridiculous. The paper apparently was not proof read before being turned in. The paper seemed to be close minded and did not make good points. The paper was very repetitive and the writer just kept saying how it was not fair that the foreign athletes received more scholarships then American athletes. In many of the quotes it seemed to me that there were many grammar mistakes also which to me is unacceptable when you are just taken someones words and citing them. The students use of sources were also not very impressive. Many of the writers sources were magazines like Sports illustrated and did not contain very valuable information. Over all I think

On the second paper I gave this person a C also. This paper was written about receiving high school and college degrees online. In this paper there were many grammar mistakes within the first paragraph. All of the mistakes in the first paragraph were very distracting and it did not make a good first impression. In the second paragraph she miss uses many words and has some grammar errors. She has an incomplete sentence and also starts a sentence with the conjunction "and." She used only three sources in her paper and one of them was just a simple newspaper with little importance.

On the third paper I gave this person a B. This was a good paper overall except for some spelling errors. The writer made some good points and supported those points by use of good sources.

On the forth and final paper I gave this person a D. Their paper was very repetitive and they kept rephrasing the same information throughout the whole paper. I did not think that they did a very good job with getting their point across. The writer however did have a wide variety of sources.

Title of magazine: Cosmopolitan
Audience of magazine: 20 - 30, Females
Advertisement: Caress Brazilian Exotic Oil Infusions Body Wash
Purpose of Advertisement: To promote a new product
Main Idea: It is supposed to make your skin feel exotic like you are on an island.
Possible elements: The add has a beautiful Brazilian women on it.
The add gives off an exotic feel so therefore the consumer will go out and by this product hoping to get this refreshing feeling.
My advertisement is for the new Caress Brazilian Exotic Body Wash. I found my add in Cosmopolitan magazine. The audience for this magazine consists mostly of women of the age twenty-one to early thirties. My add uses tropical colors to draw the audiences attention. A major portion of the add is taken up by a beautiful Brazilian women. This also is used to draw the audiences attention. At the bottom of the add the Caress bottles are enlarged to show the actual product that the article is talking about. The bottle that is in the front is yellow because yellow is more likely to draw attention. At the bottom of the Brazilian woman's feet there is a path that leads to the body wash. I think that this is saying that if you want to look like a Brazilian goddess then use this product. The article gives off a tropical feel. The advertiser is trying to stress to the reader that if they buy this product then every time they use it it will make them feel like they are on a tropical island. The black and purple writing just sees to flow across the page. This gives off a care free feeling. At the bottom of the the advertisement it says Caress play with beauty. This is telling the audience to go out and try new products. Over all the advertiser uses many useful techniques to catch the readers eye. I believe that this article will get a lot of responses.

My name is Kallie Drawdy and I am from Walterboro, South Carolina. I was born on December 28, 1989. I live in the country in a brick house that is surrounded by trees and fields. I have no neighbors, which is great. I love the outdoors. The river is always a great place to be. I love just riding down the river in the boat and the wind blowing my hair. My favorite place to be is Edisto Beach. I go there every year for the week of July 4th with my family. I love to just swim in the ocean and lay out in the sun all week long. It's wonderful. I have one brother who is three years older then me. I have a Shit zu named chance. I love to bake cookies and cakes. I love pictures. I love to scrapbook all my special occasions. I would have to say that I am an expert in country music. I know most country music artists and what songs they sing. I have over 1,000 songs on my computer and about eighty Cd's, most of which are country. Kenny Chesney is my favorite artist. I have seen him in concert one time and it was awesome. I have Six Kenny Chesney Cd's and know every song on every CD. Music is my life. If I did not have my music I would have nothing. I get excited really easy expecially on Christmas. That is my Favorite holiday. I am an out going person who is easy to talk, and that is who I am.
